Animal Farm/Petting Zoo

The objective of our baby animal faro is for children to learn how to care for different animals and respect nature, which in turn feeds us. If we respect the water, the earth, its animals and plants, we respect each other and our planet.

Groups of 10 children per instructor. Our activities are inspired on Maria Montessori’s revolutionary teachings, and aim to help each child grow in self-esteem and independence. We reinforce and respect each child’s individuality and the importance of learning through what we see, touch, feel, etc.

Animals and their importance in a natural setting. Children have the opportunity to learn about each of our charming baby animals, they can feed carrots to our donkeys and rabbits, feed bread to the ducks, search for eggs, as well as how to care for each animal.

Brush the donkey’s fur, brush the rabbit’s fur, two very different things!, give the lamb it’s bottle – these aspects are based on care and respect. How to play with them without hurting them – with respect and tolerance. They learn how to sketch the animals, how to copy their footprints.

Nature. The sounds of the countryside. We have special equipment, purchased at the French store Nature et Découverte which assists us in magnifying and recording animal sounds, bird song, the buzz of bees, and discovering less obvious aspects of the animals which live in Extremadura. We explore the structure and workings of an ants’ nest, we go in search of a cricket’s nest, we organise treasure hunts amidst the natural habitat of El Vaqueril. Contact with Mother Nature. Each child will dig, smell, fell the earth and plant a seed, in accordance with the season of the year, and will water and watch it sprout during the summer camp, and will then be encouraged to take it home and continue to care for it.

Our herb garden is the perfect place for children to learn to recognise aromatic plants and some of its characteristics. Peppermint, aloe vera, basil, thyme, rosemary, lavendar, sage, etc. The aim is to learn about its properties and develop the child’s visual and olfactory senses. Beekeeping is fascinating for children – from pollination to honey production, to bees wax and honey combs, and ultimately honey tasting! Baking Bread & Muffins is a fun way for each child to create their own version, using the produce from the earth, wheat flour, faro eggs, milk, sugar and honey, fruits, flowers and spices. Games & Workshops Indoor or outdoor activities, in the pool, hotel courtyard, gardens or in the football pitch, all monitored by the instructors.
