For those of you who haven’t met me personally, I am enclosing a brief resumé of my teaching experience : I have been working with children since 1996, I obtained my Montessori AMI certification in LONDON, where I worked for 10 years at the Hapshire School. During this time I specialised in teaching children with learning disabilities. Previous to that I worked in PARIS for 3 years at the bilingual French/English American Montessori School and I currently teach at the bilingual French/English school in AIX EN PROVENCE (France).

Summer Camp

The 2011 summer camp at the El Vaqueril family estate is for children aged 7 to 14. It takes place in the midst of nature, in a casual family setting, making the most of the natural resources to teach, play and have fun. With a maximum of 20 children and 2 qualified instructors, as well as myself as head teacher and a teaching assistant, the one or two-week summer camp takes place in a family setting. Our philosophy is based on the Montessori system, mixing all ages and different activities, undertaken in small groups.

The aim of our summer camp is for the child to enjoy his/her holidays in an authentic country setting, that they learn to respect nature whilst practising another language and developing team skills in a varied group of children. These elements, in addition to the indoor and outdoor activities have been developed with the objective of allowing the child to grow in self-esteem and independence.

El Vaqueril’s baby animal farm is one of the most popular aspects of the summer camp. We have baby lambs, miniature gotas, Belier rabbits, chicks, ducklings and two gentle donkeys to delight our summer camp children. Each child is allocated a specific animal in order to learn about its care and feeding routine, and this empowers the child and gives them a first element of responsibility, it also helps the child learn to respect and care for a farm animal. Most of our baby farm animals arrive mid-June.
